How do I color large areas withh Prismacolor markers?

I just bought Prismacolor markers, and so far I like them a lot. The only problem is that in order to blend tones (ie shadows on skin, etc) the ink needs to be wet on the base coat when you apply the shadow color; so how do you color LARGE areas that need shadows? By the time I have the base coat down, half of it is already dry! Please help!

1. Try doing smaller sections and then you will get the result you want! Good luck!
