How do I make gel pens work again if they have been sitting for awhile?

I have a set of gel pens with lots of pretty colors that I'd like to use. Plenty of ink in them, if I could just get them to work. Help?

1. Tap the tip on paper. If that doesn't work, dip the tips in water.
